From safe to office furniture
Robberechts is a family company founded in 1880 by Alfons Robberechts. He started at the centre of Turnhout with the production of safes. Already at that time, he participated in international fairs, amongst others in Paris. The company passed from father to son and after the 2nd world war the production of office furniture was started.
Albert Robberechts (meantime the third generation) decided in 1948 to set up a new plant in Beerse and successfully diversified the production range. A new start as made with a wide range of products.
In 1983 Yves Robberechts en Karin Verbeeck (fourth generation) opened a completely new branch back in Turnhout, where it all started.
There was a period of rejuvenation and renewal, which turned out to be a success story, as nearly 4 years later, the factory moved to a new building at the Steenweg op Gierle.
Robberechts as we know it
2000 was once again a pivotal year. The aqcuisition of the lot at the Slachthuisstraat permitted a further large-scale expansion, this time up to 45 000 m² of factory and offices. In 2002 they were taken into use and 10 years later the 5th generation is ready to take over.
This new building has been designed in the context of sustainable development.
